She has tried cannabis and alcohol to relieve stress on occasion, but this is unusual because her parents closely monitor her. Cutting is easier to conceal…and less expensive. She insists she has never considered suicide, explaining that when she cuts, the pain “outside” relieves the pain “inside.”
