The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) established a set of criteria known as the DNP Essentials, which outline the core abilities that should be acquired and focused on throughout the curriculum of a DNP degree program. Furthermore, the DNP Essentials indicate the competencies and areas of practice that will inform your practice as a DNP-prepared nurse. Take note that, in addition to your personal and academic motives for seeking a DNP degree, you will be expected to demonstrate and practice these essentials in your everyday practice.

For this Assignment, review the AACN DNP Essentials document and reflect on the competencies presented. Reflect on your personal and academic goals and consider how those goals align with both Walden University’s mission and vision and with the AACN DNP Essentials.

DISCUSSION 2 RESPONSE

Every group has different health care needs at different times. The situation calls for nurses who are well-trained and have a lot of judgment and critical thinking skills. The institution is also built with the social, cultural, and moral needs of the community in mind. In the learner’s first post, he or she mentioned a culturally sensitive nurse who respects a community’s culture and way of life (Gates, 2018). A nurse with a bachelor’s degree should be able to do that. An advanced practice registered nurse works with different teams to make sure that patients get the best care possible.

A place like Walden University can start a social and cultural change to help its environment grow. It can talk about its values and beliefs with the people in charge of the community to find out what they care about. The university can turn out well-educated graduates in nursing and other fields who can make a difference in the health field (Lawrence et al, 2018). A well-trained nursing staff with master’s and doctoral degrees in nursing practice is important for closing the gap between the disadvantaged and the wealthy. The nurse works in the community to find and treat health problems that come from a bad diet or way of life.

High-risk people get the right health education and disease-prevention strategies from the practitioner. The main goal and purpose of a well-trained, clinically-competent nurse is to give new nurses the tools they need to find their way in their careers (Mackay et al, 2017). Taking part in conferences, talks, and mentoring programs brings people together and makes them more passionate about their work. So, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing should be in charge of promoting education and career advancement up to the Doctor of Nursing Practice level.

In the next module, you will analyze the roles and expectations associated with the DNP-prepared nurse. You will also examine the alignment between the AACN DNP Essentials and your practicum/field experience and Doctoral Project requirements.

Looking Ahead: Week 5 Assignment

In Week 5, you will select at least 3 AACN DNP Essentials that most align to the completion of a Doctoral Project. You will also explain how the AACN DNP Essentials you selected will relate to the completion of a practicum/field experience.

Although you will submit the Week 5 Assignment by Day 7 of Week 5, it is highly encouraged that you reflect on the AACN DNP Essentials you consulted this week and review the requirements to begin your preparation for completing the Week 5 Assignment this week.
