Course Description
This course examines the models and approaches of project management in health care settings. Learners demonstrate understanding of the project management process and its application to health care quality and safety initiatives. Learners gain skills to identify various stakeholders and roles, set goals and expectations, plan stakeholder engagement, and identify ways to mitigate obstacles in health care project management. Prerequisite: HQS-610.
Part 1: A project charter is an essential element in the design phase of project management. The project charter serves as a framework and outlines key details of the project. Ultimately, the project charter will give authority to the project manager once key stakeholders and leadership sign off. Assessment Description
A work breakdown structure (WBS) and project charter are the goals of this assignment. Choose one of the following case studies from Chapter 8 of the textbook: Nurse Manager Case Study or Nurse Informatics Specialist Case Study (INS). The case study you chose in this topic will be utilized to complete the assignments in Topics 3-7 throughout the semester.
Figure 3.2 “Project Charter Content” from Chapter 3 of the textbook should be reviewed. The “Project Charter Template” can be found in the Resources folder under the topic “Project Charter”. As if you were the project manager, you will fill up the template. For the case study you choose in Chapter 8, the project charter will act as a work statement.
You’ll need one or two academic sources to complete this task.
The APA Style Guide can be found in the Student Success Center, where you can get the template for Part 2 of the template. There’s no need to submit an abstract.
A rubric will be used to grade this task. Preparing for the task requires familiarity with the rubric, so please study it before beginning.
