This article elaborates on the different aspects of French expansion and highlights the important role played by Jules Ferry in doing so. Jules Ferry was a French statesman and republican. He was a politician of the third republic, a system adopted by the France. Jules was best known for his two greatest reforms one in which he proposed to destroy the clergy system and bring a more secular system and another in which he propounded colonial expansion (Fitzmaurice, 2012).
