We document our care using standardized nursing terminology, but we don’t completely understand why we do, one of the nurses said to her during the visit (Rutherford, 2008, para. 1).
The Rutherford (2008) article Standardized Nursing Language: What Does It Mean for Nursing Practice is one of the Resources in this module. In this article, the author describes a trip to a nearby hospital to see how a new coding system was just implemented.
