Well-developed posts demonstrate synthesis of the subject matter, extend the discussion by building on previous posts, and include proper source citations, when applicable. Discussion Prompt

Consider the community surrounding your school of nursing. Pick two environmental conditions and assess these conditions. Where do you think you could locate data to support your observations?

RE: Discussion Prompt

In the surrounding environment of my nursing institution, two components that influence the community includes the nearby refinery and the convenience of fast food. The refinery is located right behind the campus which may influence the quality of the atmospheric air. Data can be retrieved online that shows a link between possible respiratory problems and living nearby a refinery.

The convenience of fast food may attribute to unhealthy eating habits. Through data retrieval and analysis, the dietary choices can be indirectly linked to the rates of high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes. The lack of healthy food options can make it challenging for people to choose healthy dietary choices. Based on the observations, it can be backed by evidence retrieved from people that have conducted research surrounding the community.  Week 2 Culturally Competent Nursing Care: A Cornerstone of Caring Training
