Yes I do know a few people that are currently homeschool and who have homeschooled. In my opinion I think that it is great. The parents that I have talked to have all been happy with their decisions. I have heard how they can go at the pace that they would like to, or even complete assignments early. Homeschooling is something that I have thought about with my children but since I work full time it has not yet been an option for me. After school closures due to COVID, I have seen that more people have began homeschool or started thinking about homeschooling. I am strongly considering homeschooling my children next year and this decision comes from seeing the changes within the California School systems. It can be a touchy subject but there are things that I do not agree with or things that I do not think would benefit my children and that is a big part of my wanting to homeschool. My children are currently in a Montessori Charter School, which I have been happy with. I have enjoyed the approach with Montessori as it teaches them to be independent along with ‘real world’ skills. That is where I think it differs from public school. The kids are able to strive in their strong areas versus everyone being put in the same box like public schools. When it comes to homeschooling I can recognize the major commitment that it takes for a parent to do! But after seeing the reasons that people homeschool, I agree with-some of them. Like I stated earlier some of my reasons to homeschool would be following my beliefs and not having my children subjected to somethings taught in public school that doesn’t align with our family beliefs. And after the ups and downs with schooling the last 2 years-ultimately homeschooling today would provide my children with more consistency.

I don’t know anyone who has homeschooled. In my opinion, I believe choosing home school is a great option since all the disruption that comes from attending a regular school is eliminated. My reason to home school would be to provide a safe environment to learn, free from stressors of normal classroom instruction and challenges from other students on campus. Homeschooling provides a customized lesson plan and focus on an individual student. Kids can be themselves at home. When the schools shut down due to Covid-19, I noticed my kids were doing better during on-line learning. Their behavior was calmer and their grades were good and/or improved. I felt at ease knowing they were home, safe, and I was aware of the instruction they were receiving. I believe the teachers were also doing a better job now that they were on camera and in our homes.
