Yulang Lei, an 82-year-old Vietnamese man, was admitted to your floor with dehydration and a urinary tract infection after falling at home. He is alert and focused, but he is frail. He appears to be frail. The following are his admissions records.
• He lives alone because his wife died six months ago.
• He claims to have raised a traditional Vietnamese family, in contrast to his children, who are now married and have moved away.
• His wife did all of the cooking, and he hasn’t eaten much since she died. He eats rice and vegetables but “never bothers to cook meat for just one person.”
• His usual daily activity is reading the Vietnamese community newspaper while drinking his morning tea. He claims to eat lunch every day but cannot recall what he usually eats. Dinner consists of rice and a few vegetables.
• You notice that his clothes are extremely baggy. He claims he weighed 140 pounds 5 months ago at his doctor’s office.
Nutritional Evaluation
He weighs 123 pounds and stands 5’8 inches tall.
