As a leader in a nursing department, you are taking time to reflect on everything that you have learned thus far, the leadership theory that you prefer to use, why you chose it, and how that theory influences staff morale and satisfaction.
Write your thoughts in a 2–3-page paper, excluding the title page and references, and include the following:

Example of Transformational leaderships
Specific examples of Transformational leadership’s influence on staff: As a result of our leadership valuing teamwork and demonstrating fairness, the staff works cohesively to get jobs done and is willing to work extra when asked. One specific example is when our unit was asked to work extra shifts to provide 24-hour coverage during hurricane Harvey. Our staff did it without complaining. The working hours for our unit are normally Monday through Friday 7:30am – 4:00 pm. However, during this time we were working 12- 16 hours daily until the crisis was over. It is this writer’s opinion had it not been for the leadership showing value to the staff prior a crisis they would not have had nearly the cooperation that was needed.
Another Example of Transformational leadership is that it recognizes staff which helps with staff morale. At our hospital, the leadership spotlights individuals whose names are submitted for doing a good deed or nominated for going over and beyond their normal daily duties. These individuals will have their picture posted on the hospital communication boards and hospital web-based news with a nice article about them and their service in the hospital. They also get a special parking space and a small monetary gift.
