NRSG 311Unit 1- Discussion Board CTU
Primary Discussion Response is due by Thursday (11:59:59pm Central).
This is a terrific time to meet your fellow classmates, to learn a little bit about them, and for them to learn about you. Please introduce yourself in the Introductory Discussion Board that can be accessed via the Discussion Board link to the left. If you are not sure how to get started, begin by discussing your background and why you are in school. Feel free to mention your proudest accomplishments, and offer advice to others. Say something unique or fun about yourself!
You may upload a picture by clicking “Post File” when you respond to the Discussion Board. Images in JPEG form work well, but the Discussion Board will accept other formats, too.
Get started today. For purposes of your attendance, please post your introduction into this discussion by Thursday.
You are encouraged to participate in this thread throughout the term.
Hi, my name is Tracey. I am the mother of three adult daughters and one seventeen-year-old son. I am a critical care nurse and I work in an ICU in Simpsonville, South Carolina. My husband, an ER physician, and I have been married for twenty-six years. There is an abundance of medical talk in our house. We have an English Bulldog named Maggie Mae. I play tennis, craft, and enjoy cooking in my spare time.
I graduated from an ADN nursing program thirty years ago. I took eighteen years off to raise our four children. I came back into the workforce four years ago. In my first year back I received the national Daisy nursing award. I said I would never go back to school, but never say never. I am often a charge nurse in our unit and recently had to turn down an advancement due to not having my BSN. Since I was four years old, I have wanted to be a nurse, and I truly enjoy making a difference as a bedside nurse. But, if another opportunity arises for a promotion, I don’t want my lack of education to hold me back.
Hello fellow students,
I am still a little surprised I am in this program, I vowed in 2005 to never go to school again! Well the last 3 years of the pandemic and indeed the last week have motivated me to obtain my BSN. So much is wrong in healthcare today and the recent supreme court ruling is just one example of this. I will use my education to better healthcare anyway I can. Healthcare is a booming profitable business and we nurses are viewed as an expense, not a benefit. I will also be dedicating my time to getting staffing ratios for the other states like I enjoy here in California. I have been married to my wife Jennifer since 2008, together since 2001. We have 3 cats, 4 chickens and foster kittens for our local shelter.
Salutations classmates! My name is Sophia and I’m excited to take this journey with you guys. I have 10 years of nursing experience, all exclusively in the Emergency Medicine. It was by happenstance that I came to work in this field – I worked as a nurse assistant on a cardiac medical floor when I was floated one night to the ER to task and assist. At the end of the shift, I placed a transfer request and have never looked back since. I find my work rewarding, taxing , frightening and fun all at once.
I’m married to my husband of 7 years and we have a glitter loving, rainbow unicorn fan 4 year old girl. When I’m not spending time with my family, I can been see running on my local dam or working out with my best friend. Happy posting!
Hi everyone!
My name is Chelsea and I have been working as a nurse in the emergency department for almost 6 years. I did not do well on my ICU residency interview but was awarded the ED residency position. I will forever be grateful for this as I love working in the the emergency department. It can be stressful but it is very rewarding and challenging. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 5 years and we have a 4 year old named Jaxson. In my spare time I enjoy running and working out. I look forward to collaborating with all of you in this course!
