Foolish teenage love

Motives in teens. Alas the connected lovers, selfishly and foolishly made irrational decisions that not only led to their own demise, but to the deaths of others as well. What goes through a teenager’s mind that causes them to do, what they do? The explanatory information about teens mind set is as follows.

In the play, “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, reveals two young lovers who make extremely irrational and immature decisions resulting in complete chaos. A good example of making ridiculous decisions that leads to her own death is made by Juliet, “Romeo, Romeo, Romeo, I drink to thee” (4.4.58) from this we have Juliet deciding to drink a totally untested and dangerous potion, which is supposed to knock her out long enough for her plan to succeed. Romeo now finds inds Juliet and mistakenly thinks she is truly dead, saying, “Here’s to my love![drinks] Thy drugs are very quick. Thus with a kiss I die.[falls](5.3.119-120). Romeo, suffering from the harsh pain from “losing” Juliet, makes an irrational choice. These lovers die from their own decisions, which affect their families in a severe way.

In the article, “Teens and Risky behavior” by Eryn Brown, explains to us why teens make terrible and ignorant decisions that lead to their loss. Eryn Brown suggests, “Teenagers enter unsafe situations not because they are drawn to dangerous or risky situations, but rather because they aren’t informed enough about the odds of the consequences of their actions.” (Brown 1) From this, it explains how the teenage mind is an odd processing organism.  Without the odds of the consequences being obvious, the risky attempt leads to a bad ending. “It is not that adolescents actually choose to engage in risks, but rather they are willing to gamble when they lack complete knowledge” (Brown 2) From this, Brown introduces the fact that teens engage in risks without the proper knowledge of consequences. And teens don’t choose to engage, they just have to go for it.

In the article, “Inside the Teenage Brain” by Marty Wolner, informs us about how teenagers’ brains are under development and don’t always make the wisest decisions. Wolner an explanation of why this happens by saying, “During these years, the part of the brain that requires a person to make responsible decisions, understand consequences, and process problem-solving is under heavy construction, and much of the time dysfunctional”(1). As we know Romeo and Juliet were teenagers with developing brains and themselves made foolish mistakes. Unfortunately mistakes are made by adults as well and Marty explains, “Realizing that inappropriate or irresponsible behavior from the teen” (1). Although there is development that occurs in the teenage brain Romeo and Juliet are 100% responsible for their actions.

In conclusion the connected lovers, selfishly and foolishly made irrational decisions that not only led to their own demise, but to the deaths of others as well. Teens are irrational thinking and risk taking people. Frankly, young adults are too immature to come up with their own rational ways to overcome obstacles.
