Scenario
You are a Compliance Officer in a Healthcare organization. The Board of Trustees has asked your department to provide a report on the regulatory impact of the PPACA on your organization. Your boss has asked you to research the topic and create a presentation based on your findings, identifying changes already completed, remaining changes needed to comply with the new regulations, and recommendations for regulatory change management.

Instructions

In Part A of this project, you will do your research for a Healthcare organization of your choice. Most students will use the organization where they currently work. If your situation requires a different organization or you would prefer to study another organization, contact your professor for approval. For your deliverable, you will use the information and data you have collected to create a Plan for your presentation, using the Presentation Planner template provided.

Use the Sections of the PPACA listed below, related to Quality and Efficiency (Title III) and Transparency and Program Integrity (Title VI), to guide you in doing your research:

Title III – Improving the Quality and Efficiency of Health Care
• Section 3001 Hospital value-based purchasing program
• Section 3002 Improvements to the physician quality reporting initiative
• Section 3004 Quality reporting for long-term care, rehab centers, and hospices
• Section 3015 Data Collection; Public Reporting
• Section 3025 Hospital readmissions reduction program

Title VI – Transparency and Program Integrity
• Section 6002 Reporting of physician ownership or investment interests
• Section 6401 Enrollment requirements under Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP
• Section 6402 Enhanced Medicare and Medicaid program integrity provisions
• Section 6407 Face-to-face encounter with patient required before physicians may
order home health services or durable medical equipment under Medicare
• Section 6504 Requirement to report expanded data set to detect fraud and abuse As you review these Sections of the PPACA, identify which of the regulatory changes apply to your organization. Next, assess how far your organization has complied with the new
regulations, and identify any needed changes that have not yet been implemented.
If the organization is not yet fully compliant, prioritize the remaining changes, identifying the top two (2) areas still to be addressed. If all required regulatory changes are complete, identify the two (2) top priority revisions that were made, summarize the change process, and deduce the top two (2) lessons learned from your organization’s experience.

Note: You must include data to support your findings, to demonstrate the changes completed, and to illustrate any gaps in compliance.

Presentation Plan
After completing your research and analysis, you will make a Plan for your presentation, using the Presentation Planner template provided in your Blackboard course. This template is based on Jack’s Five Slide Methodology, which you studied in your JWI 540 Strategy course. Your Plan starts with a Title Slide, followed by 5 to 10 slides adapted from the Five Slide Methodology, and finishes with your Summary and Recommendations.

Consider the following items when making your Plan:

§ Use bullet points to summarize your main findings
§ Provide relevant data to support your findings
§ Fill out ALL Content items on each page of your Planner
§ Include an image, illustration, or data chart on at least two (2) slides.

Your Plan must follow these formatting requirements:
§ Typed, double-spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides
§ Use the provided Presentation Planner template to submit your work
§ Your first page (Title slide) should include assignment title, student name, professor’s
name, course title, and date.
