In order to prepare for the Health Information Patient Handout:
Choose a health issue that interests you.
Determine the audience or population you want to educate about this issue.
Search the Internet for credible websites that contain information about your chosen topic.
Examine the two health literacy websites mentioned in this week’s Learning Resources. Concentrate on information-presentation strategies.
To finish your Health Information Patient Handout:
Create an educational handout on the health issue of your choice. (Obesity in Childhood)
o Include a title page.
o Include an introduction that says:
An explanation of your problem and why you chose it
A description of the audience to whom you are speaking
o Within the handout:
Create your handout so that it catches the attention of the intended audience.
Include a description of the health issue as well as any additional content that will help your message stand out (i.e., key terms and definitions, graphics, illustrations, etc.).
Recommend four or five websites that provide clear, valuable, and trustworthy information on the subject.
Keep in mind that the information in your health handout and its design should be appropriate for the audience you are attempting to inform. Please submit your assignment in the form of a Word document.
