However, I believe one of the main reasons is that patients choose their hospital according to distance, insurance acceptance and if their doctor has permission to treat at that facility. Even considering the national health service websites to review their patient satisfaction scores can also play a role in whether or not a patient chooses your facility. In addition, I believe spirituality and religion play a role in whether a person decides the hospital’s cultural competency in diversity is a crucial aspect of healthcare. Healthcare professionals need to understand that religious and spiritual beliefs play an essential role in a person’s medical decisions.
