One of your roles as a Disability Worker is to follow safe work practices when providing direct care to people with disability. Complete the following tasks.
Task 1
Contribute to a workplace WHS meeting or inspection and provide evidence of this through either:
Option A:
Workplace meeting minutes (use the template on the next page or one from your workplace).

A WHS inspection report (use the template in Appendix 1 or one from your workplace).
(Note: you do NOT need to do both option A and B, just select one)

Using appendix 2 and 3:
- conduct a workplace risk assessment
- identify at least three (3) potential hazards
- record the results.
Task 3
Your supervisor needs to confirm if you have consistently applied workplace safety procedures during the day-to-day activities of your work placement in the following areas:
- infection control
- hazardous manual tasks
- use of personal protective equipment
- reporting incidents
Ask your supervisor to complete the following form and sign it at the bottom.

1: The student has used appropriate infection control and personal hygiene procedures consistently within the workplace? This will involve:
a) Washing hands in accordance with workplace protocol. |

d) Disposing of waste in accordance with organizational guidelines.

2: The student has performed manual handling duties by transferring a client on at least three occasions, with at least one of these instances involving the use of a piece of equipment; either a hoist or a standing lifter.
Use of equipment must comply with manufacturer’s guidelines. Manual handling techniques must be in accordance with organizational guidelines.

3: The student has consistently applied workplace policies and procedures in their reporting of any incidents.
