Student’s post:

Attachment and bonding is important in all ages and points of life. Attachment and bonding starts from inside the womb I believe. A newborn or child needs to have that bond, and it usually starts with the mother or person that child is with the most. They need to have attachment and bonds at a young age so they can learn to develop healthy relationships and boundaries as they grow older. I was never close with my parents when I was younger, my mother left me at a young age and I moved in with a friend and her family and soon after took off. I am told a lot I baby my kids and spoil them because I was always holding them when they were younger, I am no good at punishment, I feel bad and cave. I dont think I spoil my kids by loving them, one thing I do need to work on is boundaries so they arnt continuing to destroy where we live and have me cleaning all day and night, but all I want is for them to grow up and understand love, and be able to make life long friends and have stability, but I still need to work on all of this myself. I truly think because I did not have an attachment with anyone as a baby or child that has made it very hard for me now. I divorced my husband out of the blue and 10 years later I still cant think of why I told him I wanted a divorce, I have three kids by three different men, we have moved around a lot. After reading this, just like many other things I have read so far at SPC, it makes a lot of sense and answers some questions I have had about myself. Attachment and bonding is very important or you will grow up with no trust, nobody there when you need them, just an empty feeling sometimes.
