How do innate and environmental factors interact?
“Innate” factors may be considered as the “raw material” of individual possibilities. Environmental factors can be enablers or detractors of the innate factors.
This is the “Nurture vs. Nature” debate that has been studied through various methods. It has evolved into an understanding of the interactions between our innate characteristics – the raw material, if you like – and the environment in which we are placed – social, economic, geographical. All of them influence our development, and none can really be considered a deterministic constraint.
That means we can use innate factors to overcome environmental constraints and use environment conditions to enhance desirable innate factors.
