An advanced practice nurse by training is expected to demonstrate competency in a
spectrum of public health issues—one of such issues of concern in the healthcare needs of
vulnerable populations. The vulnerable populations are exposed to a host of health problems
ranging from disease attacks to the inability to access appropriate and sufficient care (Cannon et
al., 2018). Therefore, an advanced practice nurse should have adept knowledge of locating relevant
public health resources that can help determine the most current healthcare needs of vulnerable
populations. The purpose of this assignment is to write an annotated bibliography focusing on
public health resources.

practitioner can use as a resource for determining the healthcare needs of vulnerable populations.
This is an international resource used around the globe as a source for public health information.
Some of the resources obtained from this website include various health topics fact sheets,
journals, publications, global and regional health data, information on various disease outbreaks,

In conclusion, access to various resources is key in offering patients and communities
effective, quality, and safe care. This write–up has therefore explored three annotations for public
health resources. While two reputable public health resources were explored, one peer–reviewed
journal that deals with various public health topics was annotated. An advanced practice nurse can
appropriately use all three resources while seeking information for evaluating the healthcare needs
of vulnerable populations.
