Nurses are dissatisfied with the health center administration and, in turn, are making it known to patients, management and the community by delivering less than expected levels of service on a timely basis.

Hometown Health Center is a 650 bed safety net community hospital located in the downtown area of a major metropolitan city in the Southeast United States. The medical staff is either faculty, fellows, residents or medical students from two local medical schools. There are no community physicians practicing in the facility.

What can be done to improve the level of patient satisfaction and improve the level of motivation of the nursing personnel.
