What is death? “Death is the cessation of the connection between our mind and our body. Most people believe that death takes place when the heart stops beating; but this does not mean that the person has died, because his subtle mind may still remain in his body. Death occurs when the subtle consciousness finally leaves the body to go to the next life. Our body is like a guesthouse and our mind like the guest; when we die our mind has to leave this body and enter the body of our next rebirth, like a guest leaving one guesthouse and travelling to another” (Death, 2007) .

According to the bible death is two types there is the physical death and there is a second death “ Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand year” (Revelation 20:6).

Revelation 21:8 explains the second death in the most detail: “The cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars – their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

The first one is just death of the body. The second has to do with internal separation of God and man meaning that death of the soul.

The greatest experience of death on my life was the loss of my father. It still saddens me today living without him, and I do sometimes question myself as to why, if I believe like I say I do then why I’m not happy he is in heaven. One of the hardest part about the death of my father was him suffering in the end of his illness, but I know God has a plan for the suffering and try to take comfort in that (Meilaender, 2013). I did go through the steps of grieving such as denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and the acceptance but still to this day the sadness sets in (Grand Canyon University, 2017).

I’m sure it sounds strange, but when my faith is running low, and I question things, sometimes I like to read the stories about individuals that say they experienced heaven, and their description. This description gives me peace, and comfort knowing this is where my loved ones are, and where one day I will meet them again.
